I was first introduced to Pole Fitness in 2012 when my sister asked me to attend a class with her. Well, long story short, I've been addicted ever since. I fell in love with the sensual side of pole fitness and that it combines everything I need! Dancing allows me to get my strength workout, and perform tricks on the pole to express my personality. It also allows me to push myself to reach for more. Pole dancing has become my escape from reality and it is MY time to do what I love. Most of all I enjoy the strength it has given me inside and out. It's a place where you can leave your thoughts and worries at the door and express yourself through dance. The confidence I have received from dancing at Sultry Studios has been applied into my everyday life. It hasn't been easy and I am still learning to be a strong, sexy and confident woman. I encourage all women and men of all shapes and sizes to give this sport a try and to not let others hold you back on being adventurous and doing something for yourself.
I started dancing at Sultry Studios in 2011, thanks to my friend who suggested I try it out . I could never find a form of exercise that suited my needs until I started pole fitness. Once I started, I was hooked! l love the mental and physical challenge that comes with Pole fitness; the strength and fitness required to perform certain pole dance moves. Pole has taught me how to be comfortable with my body and also what the body is capable of if you just move past the fear. There is no better feeling then the sense of accomplishment that comes from learning a new move, practicing until you get right.
I started ballet at the age of 6 and thereafter transitioned to modern dancing, hip hop and jazz for most of my school years. I completed numerous dance certifications, eisteddfods and shows during this period. After I left school, I took a break from dancing to focus on my studies and try different sports. These included rock climbing, yoga and jiu jitsu – until a friend asked me to join her for a pole dance class in 2012. By middle 2013 I discovered Sultry Studios, which felt a little bit more like home and gave me a sisterhood like no other. After doing pole for only about a year, I already became stronger and fitter than ever. This sport has introduced me to so many like-minded, beautiful, strong individuals and it continues to challenge me every single day.
I started pole dancing in 2015. I was never did any form of dancing prior to pole, but got bored easily with normal workouts. After my trial class i was hooked. I relocated to Centurion from Port Elizabeth and did not know anyone, after a couple of weeks of pole dancing I made so many friends. I am amazed at how strong i have gotten and the progress i have made so far. Pole is my escape and Sultry is my home away from home.
I took up Pole dancing through Sultry Studios early on in 2008 and although I enjoyed dancing, I fell pregnant and decided to stop my classes due to medical reasons. In May 2015 I decided to retake up pole dancing at Sultry Studios and ever since then I have not looked back. Pole dancing offers me the opportunity to feel sensual and sexy, be strong and as fit as I possibly can be. It focusses on core strength and attitude and right mind set. Pole dancing is for ladies of all shapes and sizes, colour and race. Whether you have a dancing background or none, it really does not matter. At Sultry Studios we accept one another for who and what we are and don’t judge each other based on appearance or culture. We learn a tremendous amount from each other as both students and instructors and share in each other’s success of accomplishing a new move. I will for ever be grateful to Lindi and her vision to start up a company where each and all are made to feel special.
